I have written the lyrics for some songs which I have collaborated with various musicians such as Randolf Arriola, Famie Suliman of the Pinholes and Kevin Mathews.
GOING HOME
Lyrics by Michael Lim
Music by Famie Suliman

I’ve crossed over this great divide
And arrived at this new land
In a world full of bricks and malls
I’ve got to make it on my own
My heart and soul are full of hope
Yet I feel dangers surrounding me
No room for any mistakes
No room for me at all

My fingers are numb, my bodies aching
No time to rest, no time to dream
My past is over. I’m a stranger here
Part of a home that isn’t my very own

I feel like going home.
To a place I once knew
And I feel like I’m going home
But I need to stay a while
Cause there are mouths are to be fed.
My life will not be in your hands
I don’t feel so safe
I’m going home
Don’t pretend like I’m your very best friend
when I still call you ma'am
I’ll do the job and not complain.
When I have enough, I’ll leave this place.
All I have are pictures of yesterday
Being so close but yet so far away
Well a new day is going to come anyway
I ask myself will it be much better
These empty hands and these empty pockets.
You can hear me but you pretend like I’m a child
May I know who I am to you
In this tiny place no one knows my face

I feel like going home to a place I once knew
And I feel like I’m going home

But I need to stay a while
Cause there are mouths are to be fed.
My life will not be in your hands
I don’t feel so safe
I’m going home

I’m going home
I’m going home
